FY 22-23 Tax Rate and Budget Information

THE TAX RATE WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE.  THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 7.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $26.74.

The proposed tax rate is greater than the voter-approval tax rate but not greater than the de minimis rate and does not exceed the rate that allows voters to petition for an election under Section 26.075, Tax Code. If CITY OF QUINLAN adopts the proposed tax rate, the CITY OF QUINLAN is not required to hold an election so that voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate and the qualified voters of the CITY OF QUINLAN may not petition the CITY OF QUINLAN to require an election to be held to determine whether to reduce the proposed tax rate.

This budget will raise more total property taxes than last year’s budget by $42,548 (6.9%), and of that amount, $11,056 is property tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year.
