Racial Profile Law
In The Texas Code of Criminal Procedures-Article 2.131, the Racial Profile Law became effective September 1, 2001. As of January 1, 2002, law enforcement agencies were mandated to begin collecting certain data in connection to traffic or pedestrian stops. Based on the data collected, law enforcement agencies are mandated to submit a report to the law enforcement agencies' governing body beginning March 1, 2003 and to continue each year thereafter, no later than March 1. Additionally, law enforcement agencies must also submit a report to the Texas commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards beginning March 1, 2011 and each year thereafter and no later than March 1.
